Is Autumn a Safe Time for Life Transitions?
By Donna Burick
What does autumn have to do with your life transitions? In a word: duality. Autumn is all about the seamless flow of endings into beginnings. The trick is navigating the gap.
Autumn is a season of letting go to make room for your next cycle to begin. Even good transitions can cause emotional upheaval because we’re creatures of habit.
Autumn burns bright with the vibrations of reds, oranges, and yellows. These colors signal that it’s time to pull inward and tend to the “roots” of your life. On an inner level autumn resonates with your first, second and third chakras. Security, family and your place in the world are the lenses that color your life transitions.
Why does your life feel particularly overwhelming at this time of year? Because change is stressful. And since this season has a root chakra vibration, a portal is open for stress to dig deep into your life if you’re not careful.
When you’re buried under mounds of stress your blood pressure goes up, your anxiety goes up, your sleep goes down, you have IBS flare ups, you try to eat away your feelings, your concentration disappears, and all you are left with is a short fuse. If you’re like the rest of us then you weren’t taught how to handle either change or stress.
This is the time to harvest the gifts of your transitions whether they are transitions in your health, a significant birthday, expanding the boundaries of your spiritual awareness, a new job, home or school. If done correctly you can even harvest great gifts from redefining your relationships, a divorce, your children beginning school or leaving for college, a pregnancy, the loss of loved ones - both human and pets, and a significant weight loss or gain.
Life transitions are opportunities to become more than you were before. Here are steps you can take to navigate these transitions with grace and ease.
- Get help. No one ever actually said you have to handle it alone. Every successful person was taught the skills they needed to succeed. Coaching is a gentle way of reminding you who you are and what you want. But most importantly a coach is your lighthouse, illuminating the way when the seas get choppy. A coach tends the roots of your life, keeping you stable and grounded during your changes.
- Adopt a holistic perspective. You need to handle every change as just a part of the whole of your life. Every pebble of change causes ripples that reverberate throughout your life. However, the broader your view the less stress you experience.
- Acknowledge that you bring the intensity of your life experiences into every situation. Your intensity level might not be isolated to this particular transition. When you do not clear up past hurts and fears they tend to build and attach themselves to every new life event you face.
- Remember that this transition is not just about you. Everyone in your world is affected by every shift you make. Your spouse, your kids, your friends, your pets, your co-workers, and your boss have feelings about your transitions. Even your computer, cell phone and car can react to your frazzled state. Yet it’s important that you do not pick up their intensity and pile it onto your own. Acknowledge their feelings but keep a healthy perspective. We are all in a connected, complex matrix to everything around us. The thread that connects us vibrates with the energy of your output.
- Welcome your fear because it is there as a guide. Transition is the redirection of your path; every time you enter the unfamiliar you experience stress and anxiety. This fear is just a common reaction to the unknown. This is a time of great insight. Notice what you are paying attention to and if you are clinging to things you no longer need out of fear. Acknowledge fear’s presence and keep moving forward. The degree of clarity you bring to your life transitions impact how stressful they are for you. Hold firm to the belief that what lies ahead is wonderful and exciting. This will go a long way toward helping you process current irritations and setbacks.
- Add BodyTalk/Energy Therapy Healing to your toolbox. This is a time to invest in your ongoing good health through lifestyle adjustments and renewed self respect. Utilizing BodyTalk/Energy Therapy Healing during transitions help address many of the pitfalls you might face. Energy therapy digs up the root causes instead of continually trimming the branches. This healing modality accesses your subconscious blocks formed from past hurts and experiences. By being able to remove these blocks you can gain more clarity, open up your intuition and have a better sense of who you really are and what you really want out of your life.
You can stare those large, scary transitions in the face and not blink. You may not be able to do it alone, but would you want to? By enlisting the help of a holistic coach who does energy therapy you can not only make your transitions more graceful, but you can smooth out the other parts of your life as well. You deserve health and happiness this autumn and when you find it everyone in your life will benefit.
