Kevin Asbjornson, MIM Reconstructs the Classroom of Executive Education

The physical setting for Kevin Asbjornson's interactive keynote event and dynamic professional development experience, Artistry of Leadership – Creating Meaningful Connections®, was featured in the April 2004 edition of Inspired Learning Advantage, the newsletter of the Foundation for Inspired Learning (FIL). Asbjornson is a master facilitator and practitioner of the Inspired Learning Model™, which was developed by the FIL's founder, Peter Reding.

The traditional paradigm of executive education assumes a classroom setting where learners passively absorb information from an instructor. However, in his Artistry of Leadership® program, Asbjornson applies the principles of the Inspired Learning Model to completely reconstruct the learning environment for business executives. With his original contemporary piano solos, a purposeful in-the-round seating arrangement, and other elements of Physical Environment described by Reding, Asbjornson turns his guests from individual passive observers into an inspired learning group of active participants.

Yamaha® Artist Kevin Asbjornson, MIM Honors Yamaha's Ranking in the Forbes 2000 List of the World's Largest Companies

Yamaha® Artist Kevin Asbjornson, MIM, who performs exclusively on Yamaha Grand pianos, observes that the international manufacturer is among the 2000 largest companies in the world according to the annual Forbes 2000 listing published in April 2004. Yamaha, which ranks 1168, was among a select group of companies that were highlighted with photos and a caption in the special edition of Forbes magazine. The caption noted that up to 55% of Yamaha's 2004 revenue will come from pianos, guitars and other musical instruments. The rankings were based on a composite of sales, profits, assets and market value.

Asbjornson says the company's ranking speaks to the value that artistry brings to the corporate world. "Artistry and creativity play key roles in international business on multiple levels," says Asbjornson. "As we see with Yamaha, companies who produce the instruments of artistry and creativity are among the largest in the world. In addition, the concepts and imagery of creative expression are pervasive elements in corporate marketing around the world. Also, business increasingly covets the qualities of inspiration, imagination and innovation in their leaders."

The impact of creativity worldwide was also recently acknowledged in the cover story of Time magazine's special Time 100 issue published on April 26 and featuring profiles of the world's 100 most influential people. "It's interesting to note," Asbjörnson says, "that there is a category for Artists and Entertainers, as well as Leaders and Revolutionaries, Builders and Titans, Heroes and Icons, and Scientists and Thinkers. What's more, the Artists and Entertainers constitute a full one-fifth of the Time 100. There is no question that creative people are as relevant and influential as the other profoundly important people highlighted by Time."
