We all have a distinct constellation of strengths and virtues. Character strengths are different than your other personal strengths, such as your unique skills, talents, interests, and resources, because they reflect the “real” you—who you are at your core.

Every individual possesses all 24 character strengths in different degrees, giving each person a unique character strengths profile.

According to the VIA Institute on Character, “Character Strengths are the positive parts of your personality that impact how you think, feel and behave. Scientists have identified 24 character strengths that you have the capacity to express.”

VIA designed and published the VIA Survey, a scientifically validated character strengths and virtues assessment, based upon the Peterson and Seligman (2004) virtue model, and 3 scales representing the McGrath (2015) virtue model, which enables an individual to discover one’s unique character strengths and virtues profile.

Knowing and applying your highest character strengths is the key to you being your best self, especially in times of stress, pressure and duress. Discovering one’s strengths also results in greater self-awareness, confidence and overall well-being.

These strengths influence your behavior and help guide how you relate to the world around you in a naturally empowering way.

Discover your personal character strengths profile by taking the scientifically validated VIA Survey, an online character assessment designed to provide meaningful answers about your inner self.

The complimentary VIA Survey has two versions, one for adults and one for youth, which may be accessed online at https://www.viacharacter.org/character-strengths-via

Expanded versions of the VIA Survey are also available at a modest cost and accompanied by a debriefing and co-creation of an Individual Development Plan (IDP) with an experienced coach and consultant at the Institute of Inspired Leadership who have Masters or Ph.D. degrees with thirty years’ experience with assessing and developing the three primary domains of personal mastery—personality, perseverance, and perspective.
